Literal Translation
One should contemplate that energy, ray-like from the root, becoming subtler than the subtle and coming to rest at the end of the twelve; then the arising of Bhairava occurs.
Plain English Rendering
“Contemplate the subtle current of inner energy rising from the base and becoming finer, until it dissolves into still awareness.”
Literal translations remain close to the source text. Plain English renderings are interpretive contemplative renderings for accessibility and reflection.
Meaning
This verse uses the language of subtle energy. On this website, we approach it in a grounded way.
The practice is to feel the living presence of the body from within, especially along the central axis, and allow attention to become more refined.
The Practice
- 1Sit with the spine comfortably upright.
- 2Relax the body.
- 3Feel the body from within.
- 4Notice subtle sensations along the central line of the body.
- 5Let attention move gently upward.
- 6Do not visualize forcefully.
- 7Rest when attention becomes quiet.
Practice for 5–10 minutes.
What to Notice
- the body is alive with subtle sensation
- attention becomes refined when it is steady
- inner stillness can be felt through the body
Common Misunderstandings
- Do not chase unusual sensations.
- Do not force energy upward.
- Do not make this dramatic or mystical.
Reflection Prompt
“What changes when I experience the body from within rather than only as an object?”
Connection to Inner Freedom
The body can become a doorway into awareness when it is approached with steadiness rather than identification.
