Meaning

Krishna describes the culmination of knowledge. With a purified mind, disciplined living, and freedom from attachment, one becomes fit for knowledge. Free from ego, desire, and agitation, one becomes established in reality. In that state, one is peaceful, free from sorrow and craving, and equal toward all beings. Through devotion, one knows the truth fully, and abides in that reality.

Key Ideas

  • viśuddha buddhi — purified intellect
  • vairāgya — dispassion
  • nirmama — free from possessiveness
  • prasanna ātmā — peaceful self
  • samatva — equality toward all
  • brahma-bhūtaḥ — established in reality

Teaching

Krishna brings everything together. Knowledge is not just intellectual understanding. It requires preparation — discipline, values, and a quiet mind. When the mind is prepared, knowledge becomes clear. When knowledge is clear, identification drops. What remains is a natural state of peace, freedom from sorrow and craving, and a sense of unity with all. This is not something newly created. It is the recognition of what always is.

Connection to Clarity

Clarity completes its journey here. It begins as inquiry, matures as understanding, and settles as steady recognition. Life continues, but the inner confusion is gone. This is freedom while living.

Reflection

What am I expecting clarity to give me? Can I see that clarity is not gaining something new, but recognizing what is already true?
