A simple framework for living with clarity, steadiness, and inner freedom.

Clarity — Lesson 19

Inner calm leads to clarity (Gita 2.65)

प्रसादे सर्वदुःखानां हानिरस्योपजायते ।
प्रसन्नचेतसो ह्याशु बुद्धिः पर्यवतिष्ठते ॥ २.६५ ॥

Transliteration

prasāde sarva-duḥkhānāṁ hānir asyopajāyate
prasanna-cetaso hy āśu buddhiḥ paryavatiṣṭhate

Meaning

In that inner calm, all sorrows come to an end. For one with a clear and peaceful mind, the intellect quickly becomes steady.

Sandhi-vigraha

प्रसादे सर्व-दुःखानाम् हानिः अस्य उपजायते ।
प्रसन्न-चेतसः हि आशु बुद्धिः पर्यवतिष्ठते ।

Anvaya

प्रसादे अस्य सर्व-दुःखानाम् हानिः उपजायते।
प्रसन्न-चेतसः हि बुद्धिः आशु पर्यवतिष्ठते।

Key Words

  • prasāde — in inner calm
  • sarva-duḥkhānām — of all sorrows
  • hāniḥ — destruction, reduction
  • prasanna-cetasaḥ — of a clear, peaceful mind
  • buddhiḥ — intellect
  • paryavatiṣṭhate — becomes steady

Teaching

Krishna now shows the result of inner discipline. When the mind is calm and clear, suffering reduces. Why? Because much of our suffering comes from agitation, not from situations themselves. When the mind becomes peaceful, the intellect becomes stable and clear. And with clarity, right understanding remains firm.

Connection to Clarity

Clarity and calmness support each other. A disturbed mind cannot see clearly. A clear mind becomes naturally calm. This verse shows that inner tranquility is not just peace — it is the ground for stable knowledge.

Reflection

When I feel disturbed, is it the situation, or my mental agitation that is causing suffering? What helps me return to inner calm?
