MokshaFive Keys to Inner Freedom

A simple framework for living with clarity, steadiness, and inner freedom.

Clarity — Lesson 37

Seeing one reality in all (Gita 18.20)

Verse

सर्वभूतेषु येनैकं भावमव्ययमीक्षते ।
अविभक्तं विभक्तेषु तज्ज्ञानं विद्धि सात्त्विकम् ॥ १८.२० ॥

Transliteration

sarva-bhūteṣu yenaikaṁ bhāvam avyayam īkṣate
avibhaktaṁ vibhakteṣu taj jñānaṁ viddhi sāttvikam

Meaning

That knowledge by which one sees a single, unchanging reality in all beings, undivided in the divided, know that knowledge to be pure (sattvic).

Key Words

  • ekaṁ bhāvam — one reality
  • avyayam — unchanging
  • sarva-bhūteṣu — in all beings
  • avibhaktam — undivided
  • vibhakteṣu — in the seemingly divided
  • sāttvikam — pure, clear

Teaching

Krishna now defines true knowledge. It is not about knowing many things. It is about seeing one reality in all. On the surface, there are many bodies, minds, and personalities. But the underlying reality is one. Like one space appearing as many rooms, one consciousness appears as many beings. Seeing this clearly is true understanding.

Connection to Clarity

Clarity reaches its fullness here. It begins with: “I am not the body.” It matures into: “I am awareness.” It culminates in: “That same awareness is in all beings.” This vision removes separation and brings completeness.

Reflection

When I look at others, do I only see differences? Can I also recognize the same presence in all?
